Both science and ingnorance (especially in Texas) are marching forward at a terribly fast pace. And yet the news is sparse. Is everybody just too busy to send out nuggets of wisdom, knowledge, and/or beauty? Cheers, John

Q: Life was simpler when Apple & Blackberry were just fruits and Windows were something you looked out of?
Add "Amazon" to it but don't freak out. It's the good old "Nature" that is feeding the technology. They will not die in "Cloud". Both nature and technology will increasingly co-exist.

Q: Are you following the flood of data from space telescopes and probes?
I find that the firehose-like flood of data coming from nearly 30 space telescopes, 10 or 20 earth-based scopes, and the 20 to 40 active probes and robots operating in Sol-space is really pretty darn difficult to just keep up with (for me as an individual). I know there are teams of scientists all over the world working with one to many of these da...[more]

Q: Laptops and other electronic tools at lectures - are they helping or distracting?
Educational ideas are changing so often that it is hard to keep track. Not long ago the use of laptops by students was to be the greatest thing and now it seems that US universities are leading the way in banning them from lectures as they are distracting students from the actual participation in classes. Any experiences or opinions on this?
