Abstract
Fluorescence microscopy offers robust, multi-parametric and scalable analysis of cell level activity in heterogenous populations with spatial and temporal resolution, often critical for effective interrogation in cell biology. High-quality images begin with carefully prepared samples and a variety of factors in assay design. This presentation will provide an overview of practical considerations and democratized technologies across the fluorescence microscopy workflow, from preparation and quality control of cell-based samples, to labeling and detection. Assays and application data for cell structure and function with both traditional fluorescence microscopy and high content imaging will be presented in 2D and 3D models, and in context of various aspects of cell health applicable to basic research, oncology and toxicological profiling in drug discovery and development.

Learning Objectives
  • Discuss the importance of sample preparation and quality control in executing imaging-based experiments
  • Identify decision points in leveraging basic microscopy versus automated image acquisition and analysis
  • Discover accessible technologies for both fluorescence labeling and detection in cell-based models*
