Microscopic View of the Invisible Creatures Living on Our Bodies

WRITTEN BY: Jennifer Ellis

We are not alone, even when we think we are. Humans have millions of living creatures on their bodies, creating a symbiotic relationship. Dust mites live in our sheets, feeding on dead skin that is shed from our bodies. Our skin supports a wide variety of life, including fungi, tiny mites in our eyelash follicles, and several types of bacteria.

Here is a microscopic view of these tiny creatures from the documentary "Invisible World." There are more living things on our bodies than people on Earth. The ability to see these creatures up close gives new meaning to hygiene.
