This is Why Large Construction Vehicle Tires Are Caged During Inflation

Unlike most tires, construction vehicle tires should be mounted inside of special steel cages designed for the safety of everyone around at the time.

There's always the risk of a tire blowout when mounting and inflating tires, but these massive construction vehicle tires pack quite a punch if the inflation fails and the tire blows out instead.

As you can see in the video, the steel cage takes quite a punch from the massive blowout, so you can only imagine the bad day a person standing next to this big of a tire would have if they were anywhere in the vicinity.

The cage bends, but it doesn't break, so it keeps the explosion contained.

These 800-pound tires take up to 150 PSI of air pressure, which is much higher than your average street tire for automobiles. With these kinds of pressures, the explosive forces are quite dangerous, but that's obvious by the damage seen in the metal cage.
