Despite being invisible, microbes surround us all the time. They cover our phones, our hands, and infiltrate our backyards. Although a lot of these microbes are harmless, there are some that are quite deadly! These microbes, or rather pathogens, carry a surprising amount of diseases
In the United States alone, common backyards can be the home to many deadly diseases. These diseases can include the plague, sin nombre virus, tularemia, legionnaires disease, cysticercosis, and the most widely known—brain-eating amoebas. These diseases can be carried by common backyard animals, like rodents, or they can be present in grass, or small puddles of water.
