If once upon a time the Earth spun the other way—the seasons wouldn’t change because of the Earths tilt. But, what would change is the climate as well as the sun rising in the West and setting in the East. Another difference is the wind and ocean “gyres” would be reversed. Additionally, a crucial aspect of our weather patterns is the “Coriolis Effect”—the phenomena that causes the winds at the equator to blow toward the west opposing the direction of the earth’s spin at the equator. Agricultural regions would likely have to move so the farmers plant new crops and many cities would grow in new favorable areas, while others would decline.
