Here's How 'Triple Point' Works in Terms of Matter

WRITTEN BY: Anthony Bouchard

It's possible for matter to quickly change between a solid, liquid, and a gas instantaneously with small changes in pressure and temperature in what is called the substance's ‘triple point."

It's called the triple point because, you guessed it, the substance is capable of quickly changing between three states of matter almost simultaneously.

In this example, the substance changing between a solid, liquid, and a gas is called Cyclohexane.

As the students in the experiment change the pressure and temperature of the substance, you can watch as the state of matter quickly evolves from one form to another.

Pretty cool, huh?
