Russian Soyuz Brings Home World's Most Experienced Space Man

WRITTEN BY: Anthony Bouchard

Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka has returned home via a Russian Soyuz capsule, breaking the record of the amount of time any one man has spent in space. While on board the International Space Station, Padalka has seen many cosmonauts and astronauts come and go.

Over the course of 5 flights, Padalka has spent a grand total of 879 days in space. If you do the math, that's almost two and a half years. As a result, he's being called the world's "most experienced spaceman." The new achievement breaks the record set by Sergei Krikalev by about two months.

Padalka landed, along with two other International Space Station members, in the typical Kazakhstan location.

In this video, you can watch the Soyuz capsule fall down to the Earth's surface and land. Thanks to parachutes and rocket landing technology, it wasn't too hard of a fall for the Cosmonaut.
