Stem cells are miraculous. They can be used to grow new organs, regenerate bone and even cure disease. To be effective though, thousands are needed. For a person who needs an organ transplant or has cancer, they can only use their own stem cells and they need a lot.
Researchers in France have devised a way to get stem cells from the regular cells that our bodies hold. Using a 3D gel, skin cells are grown, but the gel exerts pressure that after a while results in ordinary cells bein converted to stem cells.
