CARBOHYDRATES
Carbohydrates are your mind and body's main source of energy. There are two types of carbs: complex and simple. Complex carbs are starches. They burn slower than simple carbohydrates, which are sugars. Carbohydrates are stored in the liver and muscle cells in the form of glycogen.
PROTEINS
Amino acids are often referred to as the "building blocks of protein." The body needs protein to grow and repair itself. For instance, your body needs protein after working out and lifting weights because protein helps repair and strengthen the broken tissue.
FATS
Fats actually have a lot of great qualities. Fats keep the body warm, protects organs, and assists certain organs in absorbing vitamins. Some of these organs include the brain, heart, and lungs. There are three main categories of fat: saturated, polyunsaturated, and monounsaturated. Saturated fats are mostly found in animal and dairy products. Polyunsaturated fats are found in foods such as corn, sunflower oils, and some fish oils. Monounsaturated fats are found in vegetables and nut oils.
