Advancing cancer research with molecular analysis

WRITTEN BY: Sarah Hoffman

A defining feature of many cancers is genomic instability, which refers to the increased likelihood of acquiring mutations during cell division. These alterations can serve as potential biomarkers for diagnostic, prognostic, predictive, and therapeutic purposes. To identify mutations, such as single nucleotide polymorphisms and copy number variations, scientists use several cytogenetic techniques.
