mouse monoclonal IgG1; Gα q/11/14 Antibody (G-7) is an IgG1 κ mouse monoclonal G alpha q/11/14 antibody (also designated trimeric G protein GNAQ antibody, G-protein subunit alpha q antibody, GNA11 antibody, G-protein subunit alpha 11 antibody, GNA14 antibody, G-protein subunit alpha 14 antibody, or heterotrimeric G-protein antibody) that detects the G alpha q/11/14 protein of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and ELISA. Gα q/11/14 Antibody (G-7) is available as both the non-conjugated anti-G alpha q/11/14 antibody form, as well as multiple conjugated forms of anti-G alpha q/11/14 antibody, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Heterotrimeric G proteins function to relay information from cell surface receptors to intracellular effectors. Each of a very broad range of receptors specifically detects an extracellular stimulus (a photon, pheromone, odorant, hormone or neurotransmitter) while the effectors (e.g., adenyl cyclase), which act to generate one or more intracellular messengers, are less numerous. In mammals, G protein α, β and γ polypeptides are encoded by at least 16, 4 and 7 genes, respectively (2-5). Most interest in G proteins has been focused on their α subunits, since these proteins bind and hydrolyze GTP and most obviously regulate the activity of the best studied effectors. Four distinct classes of Gα subunits have been identified; these include Gs, Gi, Gq and Ga 12/13. The Gq class includes Gα 15,Gα 14, Gα 11 and Gα q, two of which, Gα 11 and Gα q are abundant in brain and lung and present at lower levels in a variety of tissues.
