Bax (B-9) Alexa Fluor® 790 | Santa Cruz Biotechnology

mouse monoclonal IgG2b; Bax Antibody (B-9) is an IgG2b κ mouse monoclonal Bax antibody (also designated BCL2 associated X antibody or BCL2L4 antibody) that detects the Bax protein of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and FCM. Bax Antibody (B-9) is available as both the non-conjugated anti-Bax antibody form, as well as multiple conjugated forms of anti-Bax antibody, including agarose, PE, FITC and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Bax protein both homodimerizes and forms heterodimers with Bcl-2. Although Bax has extensive amino acid homology with a related protein designated Bcl-2, the Bax Antibody (B-9) specifically detects Bax without showing cross reactivity with Bcl-2. Overexpression of Bax accelerates apoptotic death induced by cytokine deprivation in an IL-3 dependent cell line and Bax also counters the death repressor activity of Bcl-2. The Bcl-2 gene was isolated at the chromosomal breakpoint of t-bearing follicular B cell lymphomas. Bcl-2 blocks cell death following a variety of stimuli and confers a death-sparing effect to certain hematopoietic cell lines following growth factor withdrawal. Bcl-2 is localized to outer mitochondrial membranes and endoplasmic reticulum as well as nuclear membranes.
