Liver metastases
When cancer spreads to a distant area from where it develops it is classified as a metastasis. Thus, primary cancers which spread to the liver result in liver metastases. Many cancers, including breast, colorectal, esophageal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, and stomach, spread to the liver when not diagnosed early and successfully treated. Liver metastases are distinct from liver cancer and require different treatments and management.
