Abstract
To enhance productivity in research laboratories conducting genomic studies, automation techniques along with rapid workflows are encouraged. Here, we discuss gene expression analysis by reverse-transcription quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) directly from cell lysates, removing the need to purify RNA with standard nucleic acid isolation techniques. We explore the benefits of removing gDNA during cell lysis along with novel chemistry enhancements to avoid the need for an inactivation step, thereby reducing the workflow touch points and plastic waste. When paired with liquid handling systems, the proposed workflow enables enhanced throughput and rapid results for gene expression workflows with minimal hands-on steps required. Join us as we explore these methods using a case study analysis of different gene targets from cell lysates in a fully automated workflow and comparing it to existing manual workflow recommendations.
