“A Multidisciplinary Approach to Neuroscience” with The NIH BRAIN Initiative

On March 11^th, LabRoots will host speakers and investigators from around the world at the Neuroscience Virtual Conference, presenting their research within The NIH BRAIN Initiative.

The NIH Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies^® (BRAIN) Initiative aims to aid researchers in understanding the mysteries of the brain, including brain disorders such as traumatic brain injury (TBI), depression, and Alzheimer’s & Parkinson’s diseases. Inspired by the success of the Human Genome Project, The BRAIN Initiative investigators work to accelerate the development and potential application of new technologies, mapping neural circuit interactions in space and time for use in the treatment, cure, and even prevention of neurological disorders.

“No single researcher or discovery will solve the brain’s mysteries. The most exciting approaches will bridge fields, linking experiment to theory, biology to engineering, tool development to experimental application, human neuroscience to non-human models, and more, in innovative ways.”

The Neuroscience Virtual Conference, starting at 6AM PDT on March 11^th, produced by LabRoots, will feature 13 multi-disciplinary panels and speakers presenting their research funded by the NIH BRAIN Initiative. These panels and speakers include Early Career Scientists, with backgrounds including neuroethics, engineering/math, computation, molecular/cellular, and systems, multiple panels on neurological Circuits & Behavior, a Cell Diversity panel, speakers Mikhail Shapiro, Ph.D. and Cynthia Chestek, Ph.D. presenting on Tools & Technology Development, and multiple panels on Advancing Human Neuroscience, with speaker Nanthia Suthana, Ph.D. presenting on Spatial Navigation. In addition to the experts mentioned above, Walter Koroshetz, MD, Director, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke will join LabRoots as a keynote speaker at 9AM PDT. His webinar titled, “The BRAIN Initiative and its Promise for the Treatment of Neuro/Mental/Substance Abuse Disorders” will uncover the potential for new Neurotechnologies to enable powerful abilities to monitor, modulate, and map brain circuits.

The Neuroscience Virtual Event, on March 11^th, will include three tracks: NIH BRAIN Initiative: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Neuroscience, Understanding the Scourge of Neurodegenerative Diseases and Dementia, and Behavioral and Psychiatric Disorders, covering an array of subtopics including those mentioned above to Autism Spectrum Disorder, Schizophrenia, and depression.
