Gα s/olf (C-10) | Santa Cruz Biotechnology

mouse monoclonal IgG2a; Gα s/olf Antibody (C-10) is an IgG2a κ mouse monoclonal G alpha s/olf antibody (also designated trimeric G-protein GNAS locus/GNAL antibody, G-protein subunit alpha S locus antibody, G-protein subunit alpha L antibody, G-protein alpha olfactory antibody, or heterotrimeric G-protein antibody) that detects the G alpha s/olf protein of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and ELISA. Gα s/olf Antibody (C-10) is available as the non-conjugated anti-G alpha s/olf antibody. Heterotrimeric G proteins function to relay information from cell surface receptors to intracellular effectors. Each of a very broad range of receptors specifically detects an extracellular stimulus (a photon, pheromone, odorant, hormone or neurotransmitter) while the effectors (e.g., adenyl cyclase), which act to generate one or more intracellular messengers, are less numerous. In mammals, G protein α, β and γ polypeptides are encoded by at least 16, 4 and 7 genes, respectively (2-5). Most interest in G proteins has been focused on their α subunits, since these proteins bind and hydrolyze GTP and most obviously regulate the activity of the best studied effectors. More recent evidence, however, has established an important regulatory role for the βγ subunits (6-8). The Gs subfamily of Gα subunits includes two closely related proteins, Ga s and Ga olf, which respectively stimulate adenylate cyclase and mediate response to olfactory stimuli.
