In-Situ hybridization is a laboratory technique that detects genetic expression within a cell. A known RNA or DNA sequence, called a probe, is generated, and allowed to bind to the DNA or RNA present in a test sample. The probe is able to be visualized to identify the genetic sequence in the sample.
