Monocyte/Macrophages

Monocytes and macrophages are subsets of mononuclear immune cells important for mounting an immune response. Monocytes are derived from the bone marrow, and they circulate in the blood and spleen. Once monocytes migrate into tissue, they can transform into macrophages capable of phagocytosis, a biological process of eliminating foreign substances including infected and cancerous cells.
