Myeloid derived supressor cells

Myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSC) are immune cells derived from the myeloid lineage indicating that they originate from bone marrow stem cells. Unlike other myeloid derived immune cells, MDSCs are immunosuppressive meaning that hinder the immune response. Many pathologies, including infection and cancer, drive the production of MDSCs and MDSC accumulation is a poor prognostic factor for many types of cancer.
