Neutropenic sepsis

Neutropenic sepsis, also known as febrile neutropenia, is a serious and life-threatening illness that occurs when the body reacts to an infection. Neutropenic sepsis usually occurs when levels of neutrophils, an innate immune cell, become low. In a low neutrophilic state, an effective immune response cannot be mounted when an infection is encountered.
