A complete semen analysis, also known as Sperm Analysis or Seminal Fluid Analysis, measures the quality and quantity of the fluid released while ejaculating. It evaluates the seminal fluid (semen) and the sperm. Semen analysis is most often used to evaluate male infertility. Semen samples are often collected on-site in wide-mouth, sterile containers provided by the lab, but can also be collected at home using special condoms given by healthcare providers. If testing for fertility, the sample must be analyzed within an hour of collection.
