Sonodynamic therapy

Sonodynamic therapy is a cancer treatment that uses principles of ultrasound. Sonodynamic therapy induces production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which can be activated by chemical agents called sonosensitizers. Activation of this pathway leads to cancer cell killing. Because this therapy can be used to target areas deep within tissue, it can be used to treat some types of solid tumors.
