Mowing the lawn has never really been anyone's favorite chore, and it doesn't help that the Summer heat can make things even more uncomfortable.
On the other hand, what if you could mow your grass from the comfort of the air conditioning in your house, and all you needed to do so was a special lawn mower with a remote control?
One of the latest technological innovations is a Roomba-like lawn mower that operates via a remote control. The user doesn't need to be too close to the lawn mower to operate it, so it would be easy to control the device from inside the house.
Since the remote-controlled mower can cover 8,000 square feet of grass per hour as it rolls along at a speed of around 2.5 miles per hour, it would be useful for any normal-sized home with residents who hate mowing the lawn the old-fashioned way.
Surprisingly, this machine weighs almost 275 pounds, but it does feature treaded tires that help prevent it from getting stuck. It's also small enough to fit inside of most work vans.
Obviously, this prototype won't be for everyone, but perhaps those behind its development are onto something...
