If you're a fan of Thor, or The Avengers, then you probably know the story behind Thor's magical hammer, which can't be lifted by anyone except for Thor himself (or whoever is worthy of wielding its power, which just happens to be Thor).
Some scientists have built their own version of the Thor hammer (a Mjölnir) using some fancy fingerprint technology and a powerful electromagnet, which can cling to a magnetic surface, such as an iron or steel floor, and then the fingerprint scanner verifies whether nor not the person is the owner.
If they are, it disables the powerful electromagnet and it is able to be lifted from the floor, but if they're not, the electromagnet keeps the hammer sticking to the surface it's laying on with a strong force.
In this video, you can see the real-life Thor hammer in action.
