Hereditary Cancer Genetics

Learning Objectives:

1. To provide an overview of relevant hereditary cancer syndromes

2. To encourage providers to obtain a thorough family history

3. To educate providers about available risk assessment strategies for the identification of patients at risk for hereditary cancer syndromes as set forth in current guidelines

4. To inform providers about the spectrum of available genetic tests, the content of genetics consultations, and the meaning and implications of genetic test results

5. To guide providers about when to refer to a genetics professional and/or other specialists as needed
