An overview of the evolution of single cell sequencing applications and the current trends in research across North America. I will highlight those techniques and protocols that are causing the most excitement such as droplet technologies, combinational barcoding approaches and CRISPR based perturbations. We will identify the impacts on data quality and results from sample preparation, methods and sequencing depth. Finally, we will highlight how single cell genomics are being used to advance various fields of study including immunology, neurology and cancer biology.
