Product Strategy in Action

Product strategy describes who your customers are, how your product fits in the market and how you will ultimately achieve business goals. In this interactive workshop, we will explore key elements of Strategic Product Management including developing a product mindset, building product principles, and structuring your product team to successfully deliver on a market opportunity. Together we will build a foundational product strategy by applying strategic product frameworks against a real market opportunity.

Fireside Chat – An outside perspective on product – Marty Cagan

A thought-provoking discussion with Marty Cagan, an industry leader in product management. Marty will explore the importance of empowered product teams.  He will challenge us on whether we are a Product or Feature Output Team.  In an empowered product team, the product manager is explicitly responsible for ensuring value and viability; the designer is responsible for ensuring usability; and the tech lead is responsible for ensuring feasibility.  The team does this by truly collaborating in an intense, give and take, in order to discover a solution that works for all and drives value.  Product Management is not easy – however it is critical to discover and deliver technology products that your customers will love – and that will work for your business.  Marty will explore many aspects of this puzzle that will dramatically improve our product, platform and transformation efforts.

MVP; Just Enough, Just in Time

Now that you know how to write a persona and understand the product through the eyes of your customer, we will explore what MVP is, misconceptions on what this is and how to gain feedback on it. Learn how to determine the minimum requirement with the highest value in order to get your customer to buy and use your product.

Track B - Participants will continue in the track they selected for Day 1.  

Frameworks: Prioritization and Testing

Continue the interactive workshop building upon our most used product frameworks. We will focus on Prioritization and testing and discuss how they can help you determine which solutions to pursue.

Communication is an important skills for product managers. Whether we are engaging with our customers, securing funding from capital, articulating the value internally or working with our engineering partners, its critical to communicate effectively.  Attendees will learn how to employ presentation best practices based on research that demonstrates how audiences retain information in an audio-visual learning environment. Additional focus will be put on customizing content depending on who is in the audience. 

Workshops: Tracks

Participants are encouraged to select the track that best suits them. Regardless of grade or time spent working on products, participants have a different level of familiarity and experience with product competencies. We have designed two learning tracks this year to enable participants to learn based on where you are in your product management journey.

Track B - Recommended for participants with a good deal of experience using frameworks such as developing personas, Jobs to Be Done or journey maps.

Building the Right Product Using Frameworks

Frameworks are a critical part of every Product Manager’s toolbox. In this interactive workshop, participants will learn how to apply familiar frameworks in new ways. Grounding ourselves in empathy and a user centric approach we will focus on Personas, Jobs-to-be-Done, and Journey Maps.
